Herer Technical and Vocational Center

Herer technical and vocational training is a voluntary, non-profit and non-political organization established in 2016 by a group of young people to serve for sharpening the skills of young counter-parts.

The aims of Herer is to encourage the technical and practical skills so that youth is employed and country’s economic is uplifted.

Herer Technical schools is now a Community-led school with the largest & equipped compounds owing 5 Workshops, 3 designed Class-rooms and Administration Block including meeting room across Somaliland and offers various courses for Technical Schooling and aspires to be home for Technical and Practical in Somaliland.

The Courses We Offer

Auto mechanics

Herer Technical and Vocational Center offers a dedicated Automotive Mechanics Department where students receive both theoretical and practical training in essential vehicle maintenance and repair. The program equips learners with skills such as engine diagnostics, electrical system troubleshooting, brake and suspension servicing, and other key aspects of automobile repair, preparing them for careers in the automotive industry.

Driving

Many unemployed people, particularly young people, can benefit from improved driving skills. Keeping this in mind, HTVC offered driving lessons to its students. Heavy machines will be the most prioritized section, including drivers who can operate trucks, tractors, forklifts, and so on. This is the most in-demand sector at the moment, as Berbera Port has been expanded.

plumbing

Plumbing

Plumbing is one of the most in-demand industries in Somaliland. Many people express their dissatisfaction with their plumbing issues. Plumbing workers are in short supply in Somaliland. HTVC, keeping this in mind, made plumbing courses available to unemployed youth.

Carpentry

Many people are interested in learning carpentry skills. Many unemployed youth can be employed if they have Roofing and Furnishing skills. HTVC has made this sector available in order to meet the demand of many newly established furnishing and construction companies that have imported foreign skilled workers from outside.

Electricity/Electronics

According to HTVC, the electricity and electronics sectors are in high demand in the market. There aren't enough skilled workers in this industry. Hargeisa, Somaliland's capital city, and the other major towns are growing in terms of infrastructure. As a result, the demand for these two sectors has increased. Furthermore, electronic repairs are more important, particularly for mobile phones, which are used by the majority of people. HTVC decided to train more women in the electronic sector, specifically mobile repair. This will broaden the opportunities for women to work in the sector.

Renewable Energy

This is a brand-new industry. Many businesses and homes in Somaliland have benefited from this sector, and the demand for solar systems has grown. HTVC quickly recognized the importance of this sector and the scarcity of skilled workers in this sector. HTVC has created a section specifically for this industry. Many unemployed youth can work in this sector to supplement their income.

Decoration

Decoration in homes, businesses, and offices has a greater impact on the working and business environment. HTVC made various skills available in the decorations section. This includes things like furnishing, painting, roofing, lighting, gardening, and so on. The goal of this section is to increase the employment opportunities for Somaliland's many unemployed youth.

Henna and Make-up

This industry has attracted a large number of female workers, but it still needs to improve. HTVC has made available both temporary trainers and a suitable venue for women. HTVC's first priority is to empower women. Women have fewer vocation skills than men, but HTVE is attempting to broaden the scope of women's skills by providing them with additional skills.

Tailoring

Many people overlook the importance of the tailoring industry. This industry is growing these days, and many foreign workers are being imported at a high cost. This industry can offer excellent opportunities to both male and female students. HTVC has made training courses available for this industry. This industry must improve in terms of quality production and skilled workers capable of producing good clothing.

This is important industry when it comes employment opportunity. It can be benefited by both male and female students. Due to the expansion of the main towns of Somaliland the number of classic restaurants also increased. The demand skilled workers. Most of the existing cookers are practicing their traditional ways of cooking. As a result, many restaurants have recruited foreign workers abroad. To address this

Tie-dye techniques which are used for coloring and decorating clothes. which is intended to educate people in need and HTVC will train women to acquire this much needed skill.
